Serve as a Committee Member
Events and Programs – Successful events require marketing, logistics, sponsorship, financial, and other planning activities. There are opportunities on all our committees to be a part of this process.

Serve as Chairman
Appointed by the Board.
• You must become a member before being appointed to a chair position.
• Each chair is accountable for and leads his/her own committee.
• The chairs are to report to the Vice President as often and required, which includes making themselves available during regular board meetings.
• The chairs are responsible for following the guidance of the board.
Applications Procedure
Any ATXJC Member in good standing is eligible for a chair position. Self-nominations are accepted. Any Board Member or Member in good standing is eligible to nominate a potential Chair.
Persons nominated by a Board Member or Member must accept the nomination within 14 calendar days of notification of nomination or application deadline, whichever falls first, and must return a completed application form to the Vice President of Management by the application deadline.
Applications for chair positions will be due 45 calendar days from the date of the event the applicant wishes to chair.
The Board of Directors will confirm a Chair from the submitted applications by majority vote at the Board meeting immediately preceding the event.
Applications for committee Chair positions that are standing non-board committees [i.e. – Mentor Committee] will be due by the membership meeting at which Board elections are held.
Chair positions for standing non-board committees will be confirmed by a majority vote by the incoming Board of Directors at the Board of Directors retreat or following Board meeting, whichever falls first.
Chair applications will be accepted year round by the Vice President of Management.

Serve as a Board Member
Most board positions are filled either once a year or as needed. Talk with existing board members to learn more about each position.
Elections
Nominations for board members are solicited at the November member meeting each year. Democratic general elections are held at the December member meeting. All members are eligible to vote. Winners take office in January.
Commitment
All Board Members are expected to meet the following guidelines. Note: The board can vote to replace another Board Member, who fails to meet the following guidelines repeatedly.
* 1 year commitment, including 2 transition months of December and January
* Attend Board Transition Meeting in December
* Attend Board Retreat in January
* Must attend every Board Meeting (second Monday of each month)
* Must attend every Members Meeting (fourth Monday of every month)
* Must attend an acceptable percentage of events (TBD by board)
* Hold monthly meeting with Personal Committee of Chairs/Directors
* Written/Verbal Reports to President as requested
Board Positions
There are 9 voting and 2 ex-officio positions.
President – Responsible and Accountable for all ATXJC day-to-day operations
• Presides as chair over all board meetings and member meetings
• Sets agenda for planning sessions, board meetings, and member meetings
• Ex-officio member of all committees within the organization
• Spokesperson for the organization
• The president’s goals include the organization’s goals
Vice President of Management
• Responsibility to lead a committee made up of the committee chairs. One responsibility of that committee will be setting the calendar in advance. Awards Ceremony.
• Marketing & Advertising, including press releases for events
• Information Technology, determining where new technology is needed to support ATXJC
• Membership, including recruitment of prospects, retention and engagement of current members, communication with members on renewals
Vice President of Business Development
• Plans business development projects
• Liaison to business leaders
Vice President of Community Development
• Plans community service projects
• Liaison to community leaders and city officials
Vice President of Individual Development
• Develops projects to train the members
Vice President of International Development
• Develops global awareness
Secretary
• Creating and sending newsletter, weekly emails
• Manage and document ATXJC processes and procedures
• Event logistics, such as registration
• Keep physical inventory including the projector & screen
Treasurer
• Oversee and report on finances of the organization
• Issue reimbursements
• File tax reports
• Track committee budgets
Legal Counsel
• Ensure contracts are intact for all contractual needs
• Review and update of Bylaws as needed
Ex-Officio Positions (listed for informational purposes)
These positions obtain all the rights and privileges of a board member except they do not have a vote at board meetings. They can still raise motions and second them, and they are still allowed equal time during a debate.
Foundation Liaison
• The foundation appoints their liaison to our organization
Chairman of the Board
• Most recent past president who has completed a full term as president
• Advisor to the president
• Plans retreat logistics and teaming, but not the retreat planning agenda
• Other initiatives that fall within the guidance and goals of the board

Five Outstanding Young Austinites (FOYA)
One of the most outstanding achievements of the Austin Junior Chamber, this award has also been adopted by the United States Junior Chamber (US Jaycees) as a national award. FOYA is part of the international program Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP), held annually at the Junior Chamber International (JCI) World Congress. Winners of FOYA also have the opportunity to be named one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans (FOYT) or one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA) at the national level.
Outstanding Young Farmer of Central Texas (OYFCenTex)
The Outstanding Young Farmer (OYF) program is sponsored by Deere & Company, supported by the Outstanding Farmers of America (OFA) Fraternity and the National Association of County Agriculture Agents (NACAA), and administered by The United States Junior Chamber.
