Richard Battle
Richard joined the Austin Jaycees in May 1980. In 1981-1982, he served as the director of charitable fundraising and led the Austin Classic golf tournament to its first year of donations to MDA. In 82-83, as 1st VP of Management, the chapter was awarded the Outstanding Management Program in America by the US Jaycees and Richard was awarded the Outstanding VP by the Texas Jaycees. As chapter president in 83-84, the 533 member chapter was recognized as the Outstanding Chapter by the US Jaycees, and Richard was recognized as the Outstanding Local President by Jaycees International.
He has served on boards of the Boy Scouts, Muscular Dystrophy, Keep Austin Beautiful and the John Ben Shepperd Leadership Forum. He served in the Texas State Guard from 1989-1999. He currently serves on the National Chairman’s Advisory Council for Alpha Kappa Psi, the Texas Leadership Foundation and was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to The Texas Judicial Council in 2008.
Richard has authored three books that include, The Volunteer Handbook: How to Organize and Manage a Successful Organization, The Four Letter Word that Builds Character and Surviving Grief by God’s Grace.
He is currently the Vice President of Sales for Keytrak, and speaks on topics including leadership, personal development and volunteerism.
