W. Gaines Bagby
W. Gaines Bagby is a fifth generation Texan. He has been an active contributor in the Austin Community for over a quarter century. On graduation from Trinity University in San Antonio, he returned to Austin, becoming President of the Highroller Toastmasters and “Most Personally Dynamic Texas Jaycee”.
Gaines embarked on a commercial real estate career in the early 1980’s, establishing a Corporate Services approach to advising his clients in handling their facilities as their businesses have grown over the years. In his career at the world’s largest and oldest full service commercial real estate services firm, CB Richard Ellis, he is a Top Producing Professional and has been an Advisory Board Member.
Along the way, he has been PR Director and Speakers Chairman in Young Men’s Business League, a singer and sales leader in Paramount Producers, La Dolce Vita Chairman at Laguna Gloria Art Museum, Advantage Austin team member with the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Austin Graduate and Leadership Austin-Kids Founding Member, Elder, Trustee and Youth Committee and Discipleship Committee Chair and Disciple Group Leader at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Past Scoutmaster, Troop 454, Lifetime National Eagle Scout Association and OA, Boy Scouts of America. He currently serves on the Community Advisory Board of Caritas and served as Club Service Vice President, the Club’s first PR Vice President and Membership Chairman on the Board of the Rotary Club of Austin. Gaines is a regular and innovative Song Leader at the Rotary Club of Austin. He led a 5-week Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) to Australia in 2006 and is the District 5870 Outbound GSE Chair. Gaines also served as Treasurer on the Rotary Club of Austin Foundation Board of Trustees. He can be seen in Rotarian Magazine.
Gaines enjoys skiing (both water and snow), sailing, scuba diving, cycling, backpacking and is an avid swimmer. He puts the same enthusiasm and service above self into Rotary that he puts into his other endeavors. He and his wife, Leslie, have three children, Nathan (24), William (22) and Kathryn (19).
